How to Update to Firmware Version 6.1.1

Overview

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to update your Retox Racing device firmware to version 6.1.1. Please follow these steps carefully to ensure a successful installation.

 

⚠️ Important Warning

Make sure your device is connected via USB before starting the upgrade process. Do not disconnect the device during firmware flashing as this could damage your device.

1Run the Installation Script

Start the firmware upgrade process by running the installation script.

  • Open the file folder containing the update files (e.g., v6.1.1).
  • Locate the file named install.bat and double-click to run it.
  • A command prompt window will open to begin the upgrade process.
Note: Make sure your device is connected via USB before running the installation script.

2Select the COM Port

The installation script will detect available COM ports for your device.

  1. A command prompt window will appear listing the available COM ports (e.g., COM24 - USB-Enhanced-SERIAL...).
  2. Type the number corresponding to your device's port (e.g., if it shows COM24, type 24) and press Enter.
  3. The script will automatically connect to your device.
Important: Make sure to select the correct COM port number that corresponds to your Retox Racing device.

3Wait for Flashing to Complete

The firmware upgrade process will now begin automatically.

  • The program will automatically connect, erase the flash, and write the new firmware.
  • Wait for the process to finish. You will see progress percentages for connecting and writing data.
  • When the message "Finish, input Enter" appears (or the window indicates completion), press Enter to close the window.
Warning: Do not disconnect your device or close the command prompt during the flashing process. This could damage your device.

4Clear Old COM Port Configuration

After the firmware upgrade is complete, you need to clear the old COM port configuration in SimHub.

  1. Open the SimHub application.
  2. Navigate to the "Custom serial devices" tab on the left sidebar.
  3. Important: Clear the Serial port setting.
  4. Set the COM port dropdown to empty/none or disconnect it.
  5. This is necessary because the new firmware version (v6.1.1) no longer uses this configuration method.
Important: The new v6.1.1 firmware uses a different configuration method, so you must clear the old COM port settings to avoid conflicts.

Congratulations! Your Retox Racing device is now running firmware version 6.1.1.
